Research interests
I am broadly interested how anthropogenic land use affects birds' interactions with their terrestrial habitat during different parts of their annual cycle. I am drawn to projects that integrate disparate datasets and data sources to answer questions in challenging study systems.
In the SILVIS lab, I am identifying conservation conflicts in the United States where the housing disturbance zones in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) overlap hotspots of breeding bird richness and migration stopover density.
Personal interests
I love taking my dog on outdoor adventures, going to swing dances, and playing D&D. At home, I can be found fussing over my vast collection of houseplants and making a mess of the kitchen with my ambitious cooking projects. I also started birding last year, which seems to correlate with an unprecedented increase in the amount of time I spend squinting at trees in the UW Arboretum.
